Shamanic Drumming Circle

The drum is one of the oldest healing tools humanity has ever known. Long before talk therapy, before wellness retreats, before any of it — there was rhythm. And the body still knows how to respond.

In these monthly circles, we gather near the full moon to drum, journey, and drop beneath the noise of everyday life together. No experience is needed. No knowledge, no preparation. Only a willingness to arrive and be present.

The Medicine of Rhythm

Steady, repetitive drumming has a quiet but powerful effect on the nervous system. As the beat settles, the body begins to follow — breathing deepens, the mind softens, and the nervous system can shift from the alertness of daily life into something slower and more spacious. Brainwaves often move into the same states associated with deep meditation and natural healing.

Many people leave feeling lighter, calmer, more grounded — as though something that was held tight has been gently released.

The drum is also felt as much as heard. That physical vibration can create a sense of being held — supported by something larger than the thinking mind.

The Medicine of Rhythm

There is something particular that happens when people drum together. Our nervous systems are wired for connection, and shared rhythm has a way of bringing us into a natural attunement with one another — a gentle co-regulation that can ease feelings of isolation and lift the weight of being alone with whatever you are carrying.

No words are necessary. The rhythm does that work.

What to Expect

We begin by arriving — taking time to ground, breathe, and settle into the space before anything else. The circle is opened with intention, creating a safe and held container for whatever wishes to arise.

From there, the session will include being guided on a short inner journey supported by the drum, drumming together as a group across two or three rounds, each one moving through a different theme — grounding, release, connection, intention. We close with a grounding chant and rhythm to help integrate the experience and find your way gently back.

There is no pressure to take part in every element. You might drum freely, join in softly, or simply sit back and let the sound wash over you. Every way of being in the circle is welcome and complete.

A Note on Suitability

Because rhythm and vibration affect the body directly, this circle is not suitable for people with sound-induced epilepsy, those with a pacemaker, women in the first trimester of pregnancy, or anyone currently experiencing severe or clinical mental health challenges. If you are unsure whether this is right for you, please check with your medical professional beforehand. You are always welcome to rest or step back at any point during the session.

Circles are held monthly near the full moon, in a small group setting, and last around 60 - 75 minutes.
