Code of Ethics & Professional Practice

Emma operates in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). This document sets out the standards that underpin every aspect of her practice.
Commitment to Professional Standards
Soul of Nature is committed to maintaining the highest standards of practice at all times. These standards are regularly reviewed in line with professional guidelines, FHT requirements, and relevant legislation.
Responsibility to the Profession
Emma will practise only when fit and competent to do so, and will not offer sessions if personal circumstances, physical health, or mental health would affect her ability to provide safe and effective care.
Emma will only offer treatments and services for which she holds appropriate qualifications and training, and will not represent herself as qualified in any area she is not.
Emma will maintain awareness of her scope of practice and will refer clients to other qualified professionals — medical or otherwise — when it is appropriate to do so. She will not make medical diagnoses or prescribe treatments outside her qualifications.
Emma will remain aware of contraindications and will ask clients about relevant medical conditions, medications, and health history before carrying out any session. Where appropriate, she will advise clients to consult their doctor or medical team before treatment.
Emma will not claim to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical condition. The services offered by Soul of Nature are complementary in nature and are not a substitute for medical care.
Emma will maintain and develop her knowledge and skills through ongoing continuing professional development (CPD), in line with FHT requirements.
Emma will practise within the law at all times.
The Practitioner–Client Relationship
An appropriate, professional, and boundaried relationship will be maintained at all times.
Before any session, the nature of the work will be explained clearly — including what the session involves, its duration, the fee, and the cancellation policy — so that clients can give fully informed consent.
Sessions are client-centred. Emma will take individual needs, preferences, and boundaries into account when working, and will adapt her approach accordingly.
Emma will always act with integrity and will not exploit the trust that clients place in her.
Strict confidentiality will be maintained for all clients. Information will not be shared with any third party without the client's consent, except in the following circumstances:
-
Where professional supervision requires discussion of casework (in which case client anonymity is preserved wherever possible)
-
Where the law requires disclosure
-
Where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to the client or another person
All client records are held confidentially and in accordance with UK GDPR and the Soul of Nature Data Protection & Privacy Notice.
Emma reserves the right to decline or discontinue a session for justified reasons, including where a client appears to be under the influence of alcohol or substances, where relevant health information has been withheld, where the client's needs fall outside Emma's scope of practice, or where a client's conduct is inappropriate or threatening.
Emma will treat every client with dignity and respect, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, political views, disability, or sexual orientation.
Practice Management
Emma will maintain high standards of personal and environmental hygiene, and will ensure that the working environment and all equipment are clean, safe, and fit for purpose.
All marketing and communications will be accurate, honest, and reflect only the skills and services Emma is qualified to provide.
Emma will hold current and appropriate professional insurance at all times.
Emma will maintain comprehensive and accurate client records for the purposes of continuity of care, treatment review, and professional accountability.
Emma will treat other practitioners and healthcare professionals with respect, and will not solicit or canvass the clients of other practitioners.
Complaints
Emma takes all feedback seriously and is committed to resolving concerns promptly and fairly.
If you have a concern about any aspect of your experience with Soul of Nature, you are encouraged to raise it directly in the first instance by contacting Emma at soulofnature.life@outlook.com. All complaints will be acknowledged promptly and handled with care, confidentiality, and professionalism.
This policy will be reviewed annually or when a significant change in practice, legislation, or professional guidelines occurs. Last reviewed: June 2026.
